In Jana's Own Words
I love photographing people! I grew up living all over the world. From a young age, I became an avid journal writer, but realized I wasn’t very eloquent with my words and struggled to encapsulate my experiences. Then photography came into my life and everything changed. I realized photography was the best way for me to communicate what I was feeling and experiencing. Soon followed the desire to create images for others. And I realized something important as I dove headfirst into photography: my heart was opened to understanding meaningful relationships, traditions, cultures, and expressions of love. Photography began as a way for me to remember where I’ve been and who I love, then evolved into an art form to more deeply understand humanity. I love meeting people, learning about their own experiences and being able to record a moment in time for them that will last forever. Frequently Asked Questions
How many images will we receive?
You will receive at least 75 images for a full shoot or at least 30 images for a mini shoot. I will select and deliver the images in a digital album.
Do we get to pick the location?
Yes! I can provide a list of locations for you to choose from based on the session type. If you booked a mini session, I will choose the location.
What should we wear?
I can work with you to help you coordinate outfits for your session based on location and session type! I can help you with color schemes, patterns and style.
When is the best time of day to book a session?
Any time of day will work! I can work with you and your schedule. I have experience working in every lighting situation and can deliver evenly exposed and colorful images at any time of day.
What types of images can we expect?
I have a rough outline/shotlist that I work off of for each session type. You will receive a variety of images from candid photos to guided posed images. For family sessions we will do portraits of each person, whole family shots, then break down into smaller groups- just the kids, just the parents, mom with kids, dad with kids, etc.
What if my family has a hard time being in front of the camera?
I do my best to have a fun, easy going time during our session together! I understand it takes a few minutes for children to feel comfortable in front of the camera but also have a small window when they are at they're best! I will spend the first few minutes getting to know everyone as I shoot candids and then will move onto posed portraits. I move quickly and efficiently while also working to help everyone feel comfortable! We'll then end with a few more candids as we wrap up our time together.
